It's been awhile. The update is that I am exhausted :) Claire was teasing us with a few days of sleeping 3 hours straight, eating, going right back to sleep. The past two nights, however...wow. Last night I got about 2 hours of sleep total. I think we're going to try putting her in her car seat tonight because I think she might need that extra "snuggled in" security while sleeping. We have done some co-sleeping but I dunno.

Hard to believe she's 4 weeks old and one month old on Thursday. I am really hoping that at some point (SOON!!!) a magic switch will flip and she'll sleep more...and that she'll do it consistently. Any words of hope for this dream of mine? Will it really happen?

Hey so just saw your dilemma about sleeping. We were pretty lucky with Colin since he began wanting to sleep through the night early. I had to wake him up every three hours to eat because he was supposed to eat that often and he would have slept through it!

But... anyhoo, a schedule works wonders for getting them into a sleep pattern. Once they get to two or three months of age, you can start by having them stay up 1 1/2 hours, and then nap 1 1/2 hours. Takes some time for them to get it, but after that, you can put them down at night at the time you want them to go to sleep, and let them sleep as long as they will before they wake and you feed them again. In this way, they learn nighttime is for sleeping, daytime is for playing with naps inbetween. Eventually, Colin was sleeping 8-10 hours a night. you could try it anyway! :0)
